Ok, concerning those registry tweaks I mentioned in my previous posting: and this is what I suspect is the root cause for your issue. It started me thinking that because TS is designed to share CPU usage between users it likely had a throttling mechanism to prevent one user from taking all the resources. So I installed the app locally and to my supprise it was lighting fast with none of the performance issues. But like you it gets horrible performance. I did a test on my end (something I have been meaning to do for a while) where I installed an application that we run daily on our terminal server because it is the recomended set up that they support. Which is probably why you notice the App being slower on the TS than on a desktop. The long and short is that TS limits the CPU resources allowed to a user. So far, we've tried various things: Upgrading device drivers and firmware on the host using HP Servicepack for ProLiant, changing the ratio of read and write with the RAID controller cache module, disabling printer and drives forwarding on the terminal server, disabling antivirus, you name it. They've been using a simple Samba-based Linux file server for a few years, so introducing Active Directory into the mix would have been an exercise in frustration. One thing to note about the environment at the customer: They are working in a pure Workgroup environment, there is no Active Directory, so we're only working with local users. The second VM, srv-ts-1, is acting as a Remote Desktop session host, providing said Sage application and MS Office 2010 to about 20 users. There are two Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard-based virtual machines, SRV-SQL-1 which is running MS SQL Server 2008 R2 serving up the database for the customers ERP system from Sage Software. The server is set up with MS Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard edition running the HyperV server role.
The RAID controller is equipped with a 512MB cache module, the controller is set to a 50/50 ratio of read and write buffering. The machine is equipped with a Intel Xeon E5-2620 CPU running at 2Ghz, 40GB of DDR3 RAM, a SmartArray P420i RAID controller and four 600 GB SAS 10k disks running in a RAID10 setup. The scenario: Customer bought an HP ProLiant M元50 Gen8 server from us about a year ago. I'm facing a pretty random and strange problem with one of our customers.
